Dad James Lett has made a Little Britain-style video starring his kids and promoting the delights of the Derbyshire town of Staveley in order to sell his house. Mimicking the opening titles to the comedy show, which featured Matt Lucas and David Walliams, James hoped the video would help improve the town’s reputation and shift his property which has been on the market since August.
“Houses round here do sell pretty well” says James, who bought in the town despite being warned off the area, “but what with being a quiet time of year to sell and this outdated image of Staveley, I wanted to do something to a) help sell the house and b) do something positive for the community we love.”

Speaking to BewilderedDad.com, James continued “I started a job in Sheffield eight years ago and was viewing houses in the evening. We are positive people and will always try and see the best in people and places (within reason!) and we got a good vibe when we saw this house in Staveley that needed renovating.
I remember vividly telling someone at work that I planned to view it that evening and she warned not to live there because it was full of ‘skanky crack whores’! But we’ve never seen any and we’re glad we ignored the advice because we’ve fallen in love with the place.”
The video, which even includes a Tom Baker-style voiceover, has been viewed more than 8,000 times since James uploaded it to Facebook, making him and his children, George and Emily, who appear throughout, into stars.
Asked about his kids’ reaction to the video, James said, “they have found it fairly funny but our eldest Emily kind of expected to be in it – over the past few months I’ve been making other silly videos, so for her it was a case of rolling her eyes and saying “okay dad, what do you want me to do THIS time!?”
