Dads' Campaign Changes Restaurant Chain Policy

Congratulations to Al from The Dad Network who highlighted the problem of major food and retail chains not providing baby change facilities for dads. Al and his son Ted went undercover to make a video that showed their local Caffe Nero, Pizza Express and Strada branches telling them they only offered changing facilities for babies in the women’s toilets and the resultant #dadsforchange campaign has seen at least one of the firms take notice.

Pizza Express insisted they were committed to being family friendly but admitted some of their restaurants don’t allow dads to change nappies, Caffe Nero pledged to review the situation at the branch they visited, but blamed the lack of facilities on the shopping centre in which the store was located. However, Italian restaurant firm Strada have now promised to review the situation in every branch across the country, putting this outdated oversight right where it is needed.

It’s a great result and Al and everyone who joined in with #dadsforchange should be proud of the first battle victory in what might be a long war. You can highlight the venues that do and don’t provide baby change facilities for dads and male carers on The Dad Network’s interactive map.
