Dads-To-Be Experience Hormone Fluctuations

A new study suggests that it’s not just pregnant women who experience fluctuating hormones, expectant dads, like comedian Richard Herring, see dramatic drops in their levels of testosterone and oestradiol before their babies are born.

Researchers at the University of Michigan were already aware that men’s hormones changed after the birth but they have discovered that the transition begins in preparation for fatherhood.

The study reports that the changes are likely to be in order to make dads soften to better bond with their children, whilst also making them less likely to cheat on their partner.

There is still no evidence as to whether these hormone transitions are responsible for the paternal inability to dance and the propensity for awful dad jokes.
